The Constitution of Johns Hopkins Traditional Wing Chun Kung Fu Club

Amended September 1999

Preamble

The Johns Hopkins Wing Chun Kung Fu Club, hereafter referred to as the
club, is formed as an organization for those interested in learning about the art
of Traditional Wing Chun Kung Fu and related fields, and to serve as a focal point
for associated activities. The club shall seek Class A status in the Student
Activities Commission.

Article I: Active Membership
A: Active membership is open to the Hopkins community and, under certain
circumstances, to those designated by the instructor or executive officers.
B: A person shall be considered an active member if he/she has attended
three meetings during the semester.

Article II: Meetings
A: The JHU Wing Chun Kung Fu Club shall meet on a regular basis during the
academic year at times and dates to be decided by the Club executive
officers.
B: At least one member of the executive committee must be present at an
official meeting.
C: A quorum shall consist of a simple majority of all active members.

Article III: Officers
A: There shall be four Executive Committee members.
B: The Executive Committee shall consist of:
7: A president, whose duties shall include but are not limited to,
presiding over the meetings and representing the club to the SAC
2: A Vice-president, whose duties shall include but are not limited to,
assisting the President and filling in in the event of his absence.
3: A Secretary, whose duties shall include but are not limited to,
keeping minutes and maintaining membership records and handling
all correspondence.
4: A Treasurer, whose duties shall include but are not limited to,
annually preparing a budget for submission to the SAC, maintaining
the organization's financial record and representing the
organization to the SAC
C: Additional positions can be added or subtracted as needed by the executive
Committee.

Article IV:Amendment Procedure
A: Amendments may be proposed by any active member
B: The Executive Committee shall evaluate the proposal and present its
decision within two official meetings of the club
C: If the proposed amendment is approved by the Executive Committee, it
shall be voted on by the present active membership. A simple majority of
the quorum may pass the proposal.
D: If the proposal is rejected by the Executive Committee, a two-thirds vote of
the quorum can overide the Committee's veto.

E: All the amendments are subject to the approval of the SAC Executive Board
and the SAC should be notified of each amendment
.

Article V: Elections
A: Elections will be held annually in the month of April, and the new Executive
Committee shall take office in May.
B: Nominations may be made by any active member at election meeting.
C: Only active members are eligible to hold office.
D: Elections shall be announced at the preceding general meeting.
E: A quorum is necessary to hold elections.
F: A special election may be called at any time by either a majority of the
Executive Committee, or by a two-thirds vote of the quorum. Special
elections may be called to fill a vacancy in the Executive Committee or in
response to an emergency.
G: An officer of the Executive Committee may be impeached by either a
majority of the Executive Committee, or by a two-thirds vote of the
quorum.
H: SAC and Financial Offices must be notified as to any change in Executive
Committee.

Article VI: Instructor and Class
A: The instructor of the club, whether hired by the Executive Committee, or
volunteering must be from the World Wing Chun Kung Fu Association
tradition and lineage.
B: The instructor must teach only Traditional Wing Chun Kung Fu and any
related material.
