This
2003-2004 Academic Year
marks the eighth year of the Mentoring Assistance Peer (MAP) program's commitment and service to the Hopkins community.
Each year, a team of approximately 35 upperclass students mentor approximately 200 freshmen throughout their entire first
year. Students selected from a rigorous application process go through extensive training during the summer to help prepare
them as mentors.
In addition to organizing planned events for their individual mentees, mentors
meet bi-monthly to organize social, academic, diversity and community service programs to complement the 200 mentees' Hopkins
experience. Because of the success of the Hopkins Mentoring Assistance Peer
Program, several colleges and universities have designed similar programs on their campuses.
